Nintendo continues to play with how they share their E3 reveals and news this year. The plan for 2014 is to offer up new channels to bring news directly to fans, media, and business folks, skipping the typical E3 press conference hullabaloo. They plan to build on last year’s E3-timed Nintendo Direct to launch a shiny new approach called the Nintendo Digital Event. This new thing will air at 9 a.m. PT on Tuesday, June 10.

“We demonstrated last year that we are never afraid to reinvent a proven tactic or to break completely new ground if we believe it will provide the best experience for our fans, followers and partners,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s president and chief operating officer. “So, whether you’re attending E3 in person or joining online, there’s an amazing lineup of games, experiences and events coming your way.”

Also, the Nintendo Treehouse dev team will be live at E3, sharing game demos right from the show floor, straight from the Nintendo booth. They say it will be streamed during all hours of the show.

Beyond this, Nintendo will launch a Super Smas Bros. Invitational event that will bring top players to Nokia’s L.A. Live Theatre (right next door to E3) to compete in a Super Smash Bros. Wii U tourney. Of course, this event will be streamed live for all to see. More details on this event will be shared soon. A related tournament will take place for fans at participating Best Buy stores around the country.
