Monument Valley channels M.C. Escher, but with color

Navigating impossible geometry never gets old

Recommended Videos

Since I was a young boy, I’ve been fascinated with the works of M.C. Escher. I appreciate his tessellations from a mathematical standpoint, but I really love the drawings that abuse perspective to create impossible constructions. Games like Echochrome and The Bridge have allowed us to exist within those constructions, if only virtually. Monument Valley looks to do the same, but adds a welcome splash of color to the mix.

The color palette is almost reminiscent of FEZ, another geometry-bending puzzler, but Monument Valley appears to play quite differently. Unfortunately for a good percentage of the people reading this, it is currently set as an iPad exclusive, so Android and other tablet users are out of luck for the time being.
