After getting heavily into Minecraft and a handful of titles that came into fruition following the success of Minecraft, I thought I was done with this style of game. Leave it to Linden Lab, of all places, to catch my attention with its “elegant, shared, 3D creative space” Patterns.

The company behind Second Life has partnered with Free Range Games on Patterns, which offers players the chance to manipulate additional shapes beyond merely blocks. For me, it’s the “real-world physics” aspect that has me most interesting in tinkering around with this sandbox.
