Operation Zero pushes for Fatal Frame 2 Wii in the USA

Out of all the people I’ve talked to at Nintendo over the years, I’ve never heard any of them say that the company takes fan petitions seriously. Their track record backs that up. Other than Xenoblade, I can’t think of one game that fans have petitioned for that Nintendo has eventually decided to localize, and even then there was no indication that Operation Rainfall factored into Nintendo’s decision making.

So while I don’t think this petition has much of a chance of convincing Nintendo to bring Fatal Frame 2: Wii Edition to the USA, I still thought it was worth telling you about, if not just for the excuse to write about the game. I just my import copy in the mail yesterday, and so far, it’s amazing. You rarely see home console games work this hard to make you feel threatened. Everything about the game seems to be designed to make you feel like something awful is probably going to happen. This is the kind of fear and intimidation that I was hoping to get from Resident Evil 6, and was left disappointed after playing the demo. While the game was clearly made with a fraction of Resident Evil 6‘s budget, Fatal Frame 2: Wii Edition is clearly shaping up to be the scarier of the two.

If you want to try to convince Nintendo that this game has an audience in the US, the Operation Zero Facebook group is organizing a call/write in for July 25th, 26th, and 27th. It’s worth joining the group, if not just to have people to talk to about the game. I’m still trying to figure out of to unlock those Mario and Luigi outfits. Maybe someone there can help!
