Gaikai is looking for a buyer, wants $500 million

Recommended Videos

Rumors started circulating before E3 that Sony was looking to buy Gaikai, the cloud-based streaming game service. That…didn’t happen. The start-up is looking to be bought up, though. CNN Money says that the company has already hired bankers to get this going, and that they’re expecting more than $500 million.

As it stands now, Gaikai is doing well. They have plenty of backing, and they’re working with big companies like Electronic Arts, Walmart and YouTube. Their next big step might see them made part of a bigger company’s online offerings. CNN Money suggests the Big Three (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft) as possible suitors, though larger game publishers or cable/internet companies could also be a good fit.

It would be funny if OnLive bought them.
