The Blood of Dawnwalker launched on Sept. 3, i.e., just two days ago. In those 48 hours, though, the game has already shipped over one million copies, as per its developers, and could be the start of something amazing.
As Rebel Wolves, the developers behind The Blood of Dawnwalker, confirmed, the game has already sold more than a million copies. It took just 48 hours to reach this huge milestone with their debut game, immediately solidifying their position in the industry. Sure, the studio is made up of veterans from such tremendously successful projects as The Witcher 3, including its former game and art directors, but it’s its first game under this label.
I gave The Blood of Dawnwalker a 9.5 out of 10, and I genuinely could not be happier to see it do so well. From the moment I fired it up, I knew the game would soar to great heights, and with overall reviews sitting around the mid-80s, it seems Rebel Wolves really did hit the nail on the head.
Players, on the other hand, are complaining quite a lot, actually. The game is built in Unreal Engine 5, and though that allows it to reach incredible graphical fidelity, it also costs a lot to run. And so, bugs, stuttering, and stability issues seem to be occurring even on the most powerful machines, especially in big cities like Svartrau, where there are many NPCs that need simulating.
That aside, though, everyone is praising the game’s story, gameplay, and innovative mechanics, primarily in the time-passing mechanics. Though there also seems to be a strange portion of the community going hand over fist to purchase the game and then mod out its best, most important aspect.
Overall, I’m just happy to see a novel studio do so well with its first game. Its veteran developers brought their many years of experience into the mix and managed to produce something that should genuinely be considered for the best game of the year. In my eyes, it already is, but I’ve a feeling many would disagree, not least because 2026 has been, all things considered, a fantastic time for gaming so far, with more to come.
