Xbox One will get a ‘historic IP’ from Rare

It’s got something going for it, at least

We know that E3 2013 “will be all about the games” for Microsoft, which is good, because we didn’t get many of them today during the Xbox One announcement. Rare is among the studios that will have something in store for next month’s expo.

“Fans of Rare and Rare IP I think will be pleased with what we’re going to show at E3,” Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer told Polygon. “We had a limited amount of time today and a lot of story to tell. But Rare remains an incredibly important part of our development capability. That historic IP that they’ve built I think can play a real important role on Xbox One.”

That’s one of Microsoft’s 15 exclusive games for the platform, then. Killer Instinct seems like a decent bet here. Even as a fan of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, I’ve given up hope for the modern-day Rare ever living up to its legacy. It is what it is, unfortunately.
