Even though Opera for the Wii isn’t quite out yet in the United States, user-based communities for Wii-based internet browsing and gaming are already sprouting up. Portals like fWiibird are gearing up for what looks to be a quite intriguing venture: a community-based Web site devoted to delivering the best in browsing, Wii-centric flash games, and video to your little white box.

fWiibird, born of the collective interest of several Something Awful Forum members, wants to provide everything that your little heart could possibly desire from a Wii browsing portal, like a friend code database (thank God), RSS feeds, and lots of user-submitted content. And they want help! Contributions of all sorts are welcome — writers, artists, Flash programmers, you name it. Finally, a use for your Asuka/Rei BDSM Flash game!

fWiibird’s in the infant stages, but it’s bound to grow by leaps and bounds once the Opera browser is more widely available to the public. Check it out here, post on their forums, contribute. Community-oriented projects like these need — you know, communities.
