Origin client update targets 64-bit and achievements

Are you a ‘power gamer’?

Electronic Arts has introduced a new update for its Origin platform that uses some humorous language but actually sounds rather useful. PC and Mac users that have opted in for for beta updates can upgrade to version 9.2.1 ahead of a wider public release in the coming weeks.

  • On PC, users can auto-archive broadcasts.
  • “For you power gamers with muscular 64-bit systems on either PC or Mac, the new multilauncher will give you additional options for taking advantage of your hardware when starting up supported games.” I think you’ll agree, I had to directly quote this.
  • Starting with Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3, and Dead Space 3, achievements can be tracked on users’ Origin profile pages. There’s also a running total under their user name.

For all its shortcomings, I have to admit that progress is being made. Everyone’s got to start somewhere.
