Collecting things is nothing new. Whenever a game or a trading card or any other physical piece comes out, someone somewhere will want to have it. And if that piece turns out to be rare or largely unavailable for any number of reasons, chances are that someone is going to want it even more.
But I never could have imagined that anyone would seek to own a physical copy of Concord, no matter what happens. We do live in a world of scalpers, though, so I should’ve anticipated this to happen at some point. Looking around eBay, we spotted that sealed, unopened copies of Sony’s ill-fated hero shooter were going for hundreds of USD, and particular kinds of unopened copies seem to have become a true collector’s item.

Thus, we have regional versions, such as the Korean one, going for around $300, though more available ones, like the Italian edition, are listed for around $80. People are also actively grading their Concord boxes as if they were some ultra-rare Yu-Gi-Oh! card, and those carrying high certificates are selling for well over $400 on the site.
It’s not a unanimous phenomenon, though. Many folks out there are just looking to get rid of this useless piece of media and are selling it for pennies on the dime, usually for around 10 bucks or so. This is mostly true for opened or scuffed boxes, not graded supposedly “rare” ones.
Either way, it seems the old saying of “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” is as true as ever. Sony may have lost potentially hundreds of millions of dollars on this failed investment, but at least someone out there is making bank selling sealed copies of a game that cannot even be launched anymore.
What a world.
