Ouya gets a big boost today with the announcement of $15 million in new funding. This money is beyond the $8.6 million raised from the Kickstarter crowdfunding round. They plan to use this money to meet increased demand for the system’s upcoming launch, set to take place late next month.

The cash comes from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, along with help from NVIDIA, Mayfield Fund, Shasta Ventures, and Occam Partners. Game exec Bing Gordon from KPCB will join Ouya’s board of directors. He was a long-time exec at EA, and also serves on boards at Amazon, Klout, Zynga and others.

Ouya is now shipping to early backers, and will be available to the public on June 25.
