NBA 2K has officially revealed the roadmap for NBA 2K27, giving us the first important bits of information regarding the upcoming title. While the full reveal is still to come in August, we have some idea of what to expect from NBA 2K27 in terms of gameplay and major features.
In this guide, I will go through all the major announcements that have been made on July 28.

We begin the breakdown with gameplay because that’s where my biggest interests are. This year there will be some key changes in gameplay, and I expect it to improve the meta come September.
Gameplay
AI defenders will feel more impactful, especially on defense. They will be more effective against shots and do a better job of keeping attackers at bay. It’s not just defensive improvements, though.
The Dunk Meter has also been improved for those who like to take it to the rim compared to last year. The meter will be completely dynamic, which will result in a more realistic outcome. In simple terms, the movement patterns of both the attackers and the defenders will be considered to determine the outcome of an attempt.
MyPlayer Builder
My Player will have 53 badges, increasing it from 40 last year. There have been 6 removals, but 19 new options have been added, which will be available to all of us. So far, the developers have revealed 3 new badges and how they will work.
- Pace – Increases the overall sprint speed of the ball handler in all offensive situations.
- Wall-Up – Decreases the opponent’s shot chance when playing hands-up defense.
- Flash – Improves overall movement during transition offense (without the ball) and defense.
Cap Breakers are also returning this year, and we will be able to preview the attribute boosts from the builder. Hence, it will be easier for us to find the optimized cap breaker layout rather than having to go to the city.
MyTeam
For the first time, the Auction House will have cross-platform support. Similarly, all transactions related to purchasing cards will happen more quickly. It will be available immediately whenever you purchase it from the Auction House.
MyCareer and The City
There will be an environmental update to The City based on the feedback the developers received from the community. The attention will be on key points of interest around The City, and players will notice different attention-grabbing designs for the REC, Street Kings, Park, and more.
The legendary New York City court, Rucker Park, is coming to NBA 2K27. It has been faithfully recreated to match the digital aesthetics of the game. You can become a neighborhood hero and knock out the Street Kings bosses on this special proving ground. There will also be an associated story with this venue, and we will get to know more during August.
The roadside report is only a glimpse of a few things that will be present this year. We will get to know more about all the exciting content on August 18, when a single full reveal will be disclosed by the developers.
