XCOM: Enemy Unknown screenshots and details

Firaxis Games’ XCOM: Enemy Unknown was a pleasant surprise for the people who wanted the series to come back, but not in the form of a first-person shooter. Game Informer has the first screenshots for the new game, described as a re-imagining of the beloved UFO: Enemy Unknown.

One image shows what the turn-based, on-the-field gameplay looks like. Pay special attention to the HUD, which gives a few clues as to how Firaxis is going to make this style of XCOM work on consoles.

For all the complaining on both sides, I’m eager to see how this game and 2K Marin’s XCOM stack up, critically and commercially. I do not envy either company, knowing full well how difficult it will be to meet fans’ every demand.
