A whopping seventy-two of them, in fact, and that’s just counting the playable characters. The number swells considerably when you look at support-only characters and move-set variations on the same character (there are several versions of Sasuke alone). Pretty much everyone capable of chucking some chakra is going to be in brawling it out Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations. Just look at that trailer. More ninjas than you can shake a shuriken at!

I’m excited already, and that’s not just because I regularly cover the show for Japanator’s weekly Fighting Friday column. I reviewed the previous installment, and it was, frankly speaking, one of the best licensed games – anime or otherwise – you could ask for. It’s gorgeous, accessible, a blast to play, and has, of all things to have for a fighting game, a great solo campaign. Even non-fans should give it a look.

The game comes out February in Japan and on March 13th and 30th in the US and Europe, respectively. Check out a full roster here.
