Line Rider does World 1-1

Recommended Videos

A quick glance through Youtube would lead you to the conclusion that Line Rider has become the new Ghostriding the Whip. While it lacks the obvious appeal of multi-ethnic psuedo-adults prancing around moving vehicles, it does combine all the inherent sex appeal of lines and riding, and apparently that’s an itch the world has been meaning to scratch for nigh on millenia.

The above video shows off the versatility of an engine based solely around the idea of drawing lines and subsequently riding them, in the form of Super Mario Bros.’ World 1-1. While it lacks any goombas or fire flowers, you can almost hear that classic theme blaring through your speakers, right up until the point that you realize that the classic Mario theme is blaring through your speakers. If this isn’t the penultimate example of Web 2.0, I will eat Sergey Brin’s solid gold fedora.
