Skyrim Creation Kit, Steam mod integration coming January

Recommended Videos

Bethesda has shared plans to put out its development tools for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The Creation Kit, as it’s known, will be available on PC for free in January.

This great news for modders is also beneficial to mod users: going a step further, Skyrim‘s Creation Kit will work alongside Steam Workshop, which is currently being used by the Team Fortress 2 community. Once a mod is in the Workshop, viewers can “browse, rate, and flag” it for download and installation. Yup.

I have to imagine more of the game-playing population at large would give mods a chance if the process of finding worthwhile ones and getting them to work properly was this intuitive. We shall see. For those wanting to grab custom content from mod sites, that’ll still be an option.
