The Surge Coil is a brand-new deployable that you can use in ARC Raiders to trap enemies and allies alike. To use the trap, you’ll need to find its blueprint so that you can craft it with the correct resources.

Let’s look at where you can find the blueprint and what resources you’ll need to craft the Surge Coil.

Surge Coil blueprint location in ARC Raiders

To find the blueprint, you have to drop into a map that has an Electromagnetic Storm active. Unfortunately, there’s no fixed location for finding the blueprint. I found it in a container at the Hydrophonic Dome Complex during the Elecromagnetic Storm.

I have marked some of the locations you’ll want to check when the storm is active. However, there’s no way to guarantee where you’ll find the blueprint, and how long it might take. As an advise, look into every container and drawer since it can spawn in them.

If you want to raise the chances in your favor, you’ll also want to check out the locked rooms on a map. The Flashpoint update has doubled the amount of rewards you can find from locked rooms, so statistically, there’s more chance for you to obtain the Surge Coil blueprint.

Interestingly, it’s significantly easier to find the Dolabra and Canto blueprints. To get the Dolabra blueprint, you’ll need to participate in the Closed Scrutiny event. The Canto SMG’s blueprint can be found in First Wave Raider caches.

How to craft the Surge Coil in ARC Raiders

Once you’ve found the blueprint, you can then craft the Surge Coil at Explosives Station III. You’ll need the following resources.

  • One Electrical Component: Can be crafted with the correct resources.
  • One Sensor: Found in areas tagged as Technological.
  • One Hornet Driver: Found from the remains of Hornets.

How to use the Surge Coil in ARC Raiders

The Surge Coil is a unique trap that gets triggered automatically when an ARC or Raider comes into its radius. It will stun anything that’s close enough, and also do damage to its health. Once activated, the Surge Coil fires repeated streams of lightning to stun the enemy.

However, the Surge Coil can also stun you or your allies if you’re within its radius. Hence, set it at some distance from where you plan to travel to avoid friendly fire.
