Splash Damage begins closed alpha for Dirty Bomb

Along with an obligatory Founder’s Club

Pfft, closed beta? Forget about it. It’s time to usher in the era of closed alphas with Splash Damage’s new first-person shooter, Dirty Bomb. In this video, the creator of the Counter-Strike map de_dust, Dave Johnston, walks through analytic tech called Echo that tracks player data and makes it easier for the studio to iterate. The end result, ideally, is a more balanced game for you.

Splash Damage has a website up for Dirty Bomb that’s got sign-ups for the alpha, in addition to some rather excessive Founder’s Club offerings. $120 gets you instant access to the alpha, to say nothing of the $320 VIP Founder Pack. I say “excessive,” but I’m sure they crunched the numbers and enough people will happily pay up.
