Side quests are optional campaigns that you can complete to gain extra rewards and character levels. Completing side quests is pretty necessary since leveling up makes it easier to complete the main campaign.

There are no side quests in certain Acts. Additionally, you can also try out the Battle Scroll System for a few missions that can be activated from the shrine.
