Nvidia has today announced a new handheld gaming device — Project SHIELD. Powered by the company’s Tegra 4 processor, SHIELD can run Android games and stream PC titles from a Steam game library — provided the PC in question boasts a GeForce GTX.

SHIELD resembles a traditional gaming controller with a big HD screen attached to the top of it. It boasts “breakthrough game-speed Wi-Fi technology,” a “retinal quality 720p display,” and “bass reflex stereo speakers.” As an Android device, it has access to the Google Play market, and can play any Android mobile games on the go.

So far, there are no details on price or release date. Stay tuned!
