Due out tomorrow for subscribers and on newsstands January 8, issue #145 of OXM has the big reveal of multiplayer in Tomb Raider. Little is known about what this will entail, though this component is being developed by Eidos Montréal, not Crystal Dynamics.

On the game’s official blog, the latter studio writes: “Inspired by the overwhelmingly positive response to co-op play in Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, we’ll have many more details about Tomb Raider‘s multiplayer offering come CES in early January.”

I know some of you are by and large over multiplayer in previously single-player games, and I am too, but I’ll want to see if they’re doing anything new here before writing it off. More recently, the Assassin’s Creed series ended up being a pleasant surprise. I’d love to see something that hasn’t been done countless times already.

In our next issue: Tomb Raider gets multiplayer! [OXM]
