We’ve been expecting the announcement of Bayonetta 2 since the original Bayonetta became a confirmed hit. There have even been rumors that at TGS this year, Sega and Platinum games will reveal both Bayonetta 2, and an all CGI movie starring the titular gun toting super witch.

Looks like we may be getting news on the game sooner than that. When a fan asked Hideki Kamiya “what’s up with Bayonetta 2?” via twitter, he responded “this week… in a game magazine…”. I suppose there may be some mistranslation in there somewhere, but is there really any other way to interpret something like that?

I have high hopes for Bayonetta 2. Though I had a few of issues with the character’s histrionic, artificially sexual performance, I was still quite impressed by how she’d grown into a multidimensional individual by the game’s end. Having Bayonetta 2 pick up where the original left off, with a lead that has come to the realization that she’s more than just constantly horny death machine, could lead to some really interesting things. Stay tuned to Dtoid for more on the Bayonetta 2 if and when it happens.
