Dota 2 footage from gamescom tournament

One of the big things that’s happening at gamescom right now, aside from all the announcements, is the Dota 2 tournament being run by Valve. It’s also the first chance gamers have to get a glimpse of the game in action, whilst it’s being played by some top teams for the chance at the $1 million first-place prize.

The whole tournament kicked off today with the group stage, with some matches being streamed from the Dota 2 website but one crafty player recorded part of the setup stage of his match and some early footage of the actual game.

As a complete newcomer to MOBA titles, I will admit I have no idea what’s going on here. The commentator’s really seem to be enjoying themselves though (“The revenge kill does come!”) and I’m sure there will be more info coming out of gamescom over the next few days. I wonder if Dota 2 could be the entry point for noobs like me?
