Nintendo offers Mario a mushroom tip

Look at this screenshot of the Miiverse plaza as seen in the Japanese Wii U launch presentation today. Look.
I realize that the mushroom is a central icon of the Mario series of games, but I can’t help but question the wisdom here. Do they not know that the only thing Pictochat was used for in North America was to draw penises? Is that why they put front and center a drawing of the most phallic object occurring in nature (excepting, of course, actual phalli)?
Or is Nintendo slyly encouraging us to draw more and greater dongs, spreading them across the Miiverse?
