Stock up on powerful bug hunting gear.

Quests often task you with hunting down specific items around the vast open island in Fortnite. Some of the missions you’ll come across in Chapter Six, season four, ask you to find and open rare OXR Chests.

These special loot containers aren’t super common, so you might find yourself stuck on quests tied to them if luck isn’t on your side. It’s a lot easier to tackle tasks involving them if you know where to look for these items, so here are all OXR chest locations in Fortnite.

There are five main areas you can visit to find OXR chests, plus many other smaller locations around the island in Fortnite. The five main areas have multiple chests for you to check in every round, making them the overall best spots to visit. These areas are:

  • OXR HQ. You can generally find around six or so OXR Chests around this massive building.
  • North of Canyon Crossing. The outpost you can find here has four OXR Chests.
  • Ranger’s Ruin. You can usually find about five OXR chests in this area.
  • North of Outpost Enclave. The outpost near this area has around three OXR Chests.
  • Near the north end of The Hive. This POI typically has around three OXR chests you can open.

There are lots of other spots where you might find a single OXR Chest, but it’s generally best to stick to these five areas to ensure you have a shot at opening one. You can also find the right regions to check fairly easily by looking for the orange light that marks OXR locations on your map in each round.

How to find OXR chests in Fortnite

OXR chests can be found all around the map, but the overall best spot to look for them is OXR stations. This includes bigger named POIS like OXR HQ, secret areas like OXR bunkers, stations like OXR Armories, and random OXR outposts. Anywhere associated with OXR and bugs is guaranteed to have at least one chest around the area you can open, as long as other players haven’t already gotten to them.

All OXR Chests are long, grey containers with a golden shimmer around them and the OXR label on top. This generally makes them fairly easy to spot from afar, as they look vastly different from regular chests.

All OXR chests grant a random selection of loot. The items you get vary with each chest you open, but the weapons and loot dropped are always a bit better than what you’d find in a regular chest. Here are all of the loot items I’ve found from opening these special supply boxes.

  • Boons
  • Weapons like the Leadspitter 3000, Sweeper Shotgun, Shockwave Launcher, and OXR Rifle
  • Healing items like Med-Mist
  • Shielding items like Large Shield Potions and Slurp Juice
  • Utility items like Launch Pads and Shockwave Grenades
  • Ammo

When you’re done searching for loot in these chests, you can get to work tackling tough missions around the island. Next, you might work on all Welcome to the Infestation quests, finding all NPCs, discovering the swarm’s access point to the island, and tackling some SHADOW Briefings.
