How to dig for pottery material in Disney Dreamlight Valley

It's time to get digging.

Star Path events give you all kinds of tricky tasks to get done in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One of the tougher ones you’ll come across in the Retro Roadtrip event asks you to dig for pottery material.

Since you’re only given a fairly vague clue to work off of, figuring out what needs to be done for this task is quite tricky, especially since there are many different resources you can find and acquire around the valley. If this quest has you stumped, here’s how to dig for pottery material in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

The pottery material you need to find for the Retro Roadtrip Star Path event is Clay. There are many unique resources you can recover from around the valley, and although there might be others you think could be used for pottery, only this one counts for the Star Path task.

To finish the dig for pottery material duty, you need to equip your Royal Shovel and dig up a total of 20 Clay. It’s not a super common resource, but as long as you’re looking around the right areas, you should have no trouble finding it, although it might take you a bit to dig up the 20 required for this mission.

How to get Clay in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There are three ways you can squire Clay around the village, although only two of them directly count for this quest. All of the methods you can use to find Clay in the valley are as follows.

  • Digging with your Royal Shovel. It can drop while digging at any point in the Glade of Trust, the Sunlit Plateau, and the Forgotten Lands biomes. You might find other resources instead, though, so how easy or difficult it is to find this material comes down to luck with this method.
  • Removing bones. Both small and large bones pop up around the Sunlit Plateau biome, and breaking any of them with your Royal Pickaxe grants Clay. They don’t drop any other material, so it’s usually fairly easy to obtain Clay using this method.
  • Purchasing some from Kristoff’s Stall. His stock rotates daily, but he does sometimes have Clay for sale. When it’s available, you can buy up to 20 per day, and it costs 20 Star Coins for each one. Since you’re not digging in this method, it doesn’t count for the Star Path, so you’ll need to choose one of the other two ways instead.

While digging for this resource, have a villager who specializes in digging at your side so you have a chance of finding extra Clay. Any bonus Clay found by your villager friend won’t count for this task, but since you’re already working on it, you may as well have a friend helping you out to obtain extra Clay for other projects.

There are plenty of other tricky tasks you need to get done in the Retro Roadtrip Star Path event after finishing this one. Next, you might work on mining for square Gems, practicing mine-fulness, feeding Sunbirds their favourite food, and mining for oval Gems.
