The world of Deus Ex: Human Revolution is not a happy one

Living in the world of Deus Ex: Human Revolution may seem like a riot, with its fancy nanotech and augmentations for all, but it’s more like a world filled with actual ones. This latest live action trailer shows you more about the backdrop of the game without spoiling anything.

It sets up events for the state of societal unrest as depicted in the rioting displayed in some of the earlier trailers, and even hints at the Illuminati at the end. Or well, it hints at the freemasons and not the Bavarian secret society that made people equate freemasonry with the Illuminati for ages to come. Since this is Deus Ex we’re talking about, you can bet your ass that the Illuminati will make an appearance — with or without the rise of Majestic 12.

It’s a pretty awesome way to set the stage for the highly anticipated prequel in both feel and setting, even if the anti-augmentation movement seems to mirror the luddite stereotypes so often seen in science fiction movies.
