Roku 2 player to deliver casual gaming with Angry Birds

Roku has announced its next version of its streaming player, the Roku 2, and… it plays Angry Birds?

The game will be included free in Roku’s top-of-the-line XS model, which will run consumers $99.99. Roku hints that this partnership with Rovio — who designed this version of Angry Birds around the streaming player — is just the beginning for its casual gaming push. The Roku player also gives users access to a broad range of media content, including Pandora, Netflix, and Revision 3 programing like our own Destructoid show.

Interesting announcement, as I was just talking to Dale North (who loves his Roku) about picking one up last week. I don’t necessarily need Angry Birds in my living room, but I suppose I’ll wait for the Roku 2, which is expected to ship later this month.
