Minecraft surpasses seven million copies sold on PC

Daniel Kaplan has just revealed that Minecraft has sold seven million copies on PC to date. Relatedly, the Xbox Live Arcade version has sold around three million.

For those of you who don’t remember the extremely lengthy alpha and beta stages that started in 2009, the game officially launched in November of 2011. Now it has its own convention, and a loyal fanbase to boot, who work tirelessly around the clock creating new worlds block by block.

I doubt Mojang will be able to replicate this explosive runaway success again (Minecraft 2?), but regardless of what the future may bring, ten million copies is still an amazing accomplishment.
