All townsfolk and where to find them in Tales of the Shire

The village of Bywater is home to many friendly faces who are instrumental in progressing your journey in Tales of the Shire. Meeting all of these characters and tracking them down to work on quests is crucial if you want to succeed.

The Shire is vast, and it can be pretty tricky to distinguish the notable characters from non-interactive NPCs wandering around Bywater. It’s much easier to unlock them all or track someone down if you know where to look, so here are all of the townsfolk you can meet and where to find each one in Tales of the Shire.

All characters and how to find them in Tales of the Shire

There are 15 key characters you meet throughout Tales of the Shire, and these are the ones you need to interact with on a regular basis. As the storyline progresses, you’ll occasionally meet some other individuals, but none of them are as interactive as the townsfolk.

	Daisy Took	Generally wanders around close to Willow’s Workshop near the southern end of the map.
	Delphinium Brandybuck	Usually found at Delphinium’s tree near the far northeast end of the map, deep in the forest.
	Farmer Cotton	Almost always working at his shop stall in the center of The Village Square. He can also sometimes be found at the Cotton Farm near the very southwestern end of the map.
	Fosco Burrows	Can be found running an indoor shop near the northern end of The Village Square. This is also his home, so he’s almost always there.
	Hobson Hornblower	Usually in The Village Square, where he runs his small stand. He sometimes pops up elsewhere, but generally only for quests or tales.
	Lily Cotton	Almost always working at The Green Dragon near the west end of The Village Square. You can find her right in the middle of the kitchen at this location.
	Marigold Potts	Can be found running The Ivy Bush Inn near the northern end of The Village Square.
	Nefi	Usually found at Nefi’s Forge near the north end of The Village Square, close to the dock and river area.
	Nora Burrows	Runs an indoor shop near the northern end of The Village Square. This shop is also her home, so she’s nearly always found there.
	Old Noakes	Generally sticks close to Old Noakes’ Smial near the northeast end of the map, right across The Stone Bridge near the east end of The Village Square.
	Orlo Proudfoot	Wanders all around the Shire delivering mail, so check the map to find his current location. Luckily, he’s the first villager you meet, so you don’t have to put in any additional work to unlock him.
	Rosie Cotton	Usually hangs around Cotton Farm near the very southwestern end of the Shire.
	Sandyman	Almost always sticks around Sandyman’s Mill, tending his shop near the northwestern end of the map, slightly behind The Green Dragon.
	Willow Took	Primarily stays working at her workshop near the far southern end of the map.
	Young Tom Cotton	Generally found at his shop stall in The Village Square.

At nighttime, most villagers either head home or visit one of the two local hangouts. This includes The Green Dragon and The Ivy Bush Inn, both of which are in The Village Square. If you’re looking for someone in the evening, these two spots are the best places to check.

All villager shops in Tales of the Shire

Around half of the townsfolk stick to tending their shops each day, so finding them is fairly easy once you’re familiar with the right spots. If you’re looking for specific items you can buy from these characters, here are all of the villagers who run shops and what you can get from each one.
