City of Heroes Freedom gets in on the free-to-play action

Recommended Videos

Yet another massively multiplayer online game has taken to the hybrid model. This time, it’s City of Heroes, which will offer a free-to-play alternative in addition to the normal pay scheme when it relaunches as City of Heroes Freedom later this year.

If, for instance, you are a paying member right now, you’ll get exclusive rewards, services, and features as a VIP member. Monthly in-game Paragon Points will also be thrown in for these subscribers. As one might expect, these can then be used to purchase the good stuff. Y’know, items and services and such.

There’s actually quite a bit of information to take in here, so start with this in-depth FAQ and announcement post from the game’s official site. This page displaying how the content is divided between the various player account tiers is worth a look as well.
