Taito’s classic pew-pew-pew space shooter, Raystorm, is now available on the Apple App Store, for iPhone and iPod Touch. The 1996 arcade classic has been recreated for iOS with a pixel-perfect arcade mode, but there’s also a new iPhone mode that brings new enemy attack patters, and updated graphics and sound. Manual and automatic weapons are selectable, and played will be able to control both the R-GRAY1 and R-GRAY2 fighters.

To celebrate Raystorm‘s release, its prequel Rayforce is on sale for a limited time. Square Enix has dropped the price to $5.99 (regularly $11.99) from now through July 6.

Raystom is available now, priced at $8.99.
