E3: Skyward Sword’s new villian is something special

Demon Lord Ghirahim, a character who is rumored to be the primary villain of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has just been revealed, and he’s pretty amazing. The androgynous, antagonizing, blatantly hard gay badass is a unique entity in the Zelda universe, and regardless of what you think of him so far, I think that’s something worth celebrating.

From the get go, you can’t tell if he’s going to kick Link’s ass, or start making out with him. Is the whole “sexual threat” thing just an act, or is he sincerely about to fondle one of Nintendo’s greatest icons in an unwholesome way? That’s a question that I’d never thought I’d ask, and I probably wont ever get an answer outside of some poorly written slash fiction.

Still, just the fact that I’m asking a question like that signals to me that for better or worse, Skyward Sword wont be “just another Zelda story”.
