From the sounds of their on-video speech at Ubisoft’s press conference, Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg seem to have a lot of respect and enthusiasm for gaming in general, and they seem to really believe that Tintin: The Game will be a worthwhile standalone product.
In their talk, there was a particular focus on the two-player co-op mechanics between Tintin and his dog, Snowy. They sound intent on crafting a game that makes for a social experience between players. Being that Tintin: The Game is a 2D platformer beat-’em-up with puzzle elements, the options for potential co-op dynamics are pretty much limitless.
That said, we’re talking about a game based on a movie, so it’s hard to be overly confident that this one could be a winner. I’m guessing we’ll get to see for ourselves this winter, as the game is likely to drop sometime around the film’s release in December.
