Diablo III hotfix stops monsters getting tougher in co-op

Recommended Videos

Blizzard has made perhaps its most dramatic alteration yet to Diablo III — reducing the difficulty spike that occurs whenever another player enters somebody’s game. Previously, monsters would gain extra health and damage for every player in a co-op game. Now, they will only gain extra health.

A few fixes have also been issued, and smashed vases no longer provide as much gold as they used to — bad news for anybody trying to buy some 500,000,000 piece of crap in the Auction House. Check out the full fix list …

General

  • In cooperative games, monster damage will no longer increase when additional players join the game. Please note that monster health will still scale based on the number of players in a party

Bug Fixes

  • Tyrael no longer has collision when he is your active follower
  • Pots of ashes in Act I and vases in Act IV will now drop less gold when destroyed
  • Fixed a bug where players could turn in the same quest repeatedly and always receive rewards as though they were completing the quest for the first time

It’s going to be interesting to see what players make of this. Many Inferno players will likely appreciate the leniency, though I am sure others will accuse Blizzard of further “dumbing down” the experience. What do you reckon? Is the damage reduction merciful or patronizing?
