99-cent rental program coming back to PSN

Recommended Videos

Since I’m all about not leaving the house and not owning physical things, Sony’s upcoming 99-cent PlayStation Network movie rental initiative holds some appeal to me.

Following the success of the program this past June, Sony is bringing it back starting on August 16 and running through August 22. A select number of titles will be available for streaming rental for only 99 cents… in standard definition. If you want HD, that’ll cost you $1.99, which isn’t a bad deal, either.

So this is exciting, except for the fact that I don’t recognize a single movie on the list except for Deadly Blessing. I’d prefer it be Deadly Friend, which features the premiere “basketball in the face” scene, but I don’t make these calls.

The full list of movies that will be part of the deal can be found below. See anything that may get you on your couch with a tub of microwave popcorn?

  • Sicko
  • The Longshots
  • Salvage
  • Tony
  • Shank
  • Bonded By Blood
  • JFK: Reckless Youth (Part 1)
  • JFK: Reckless Youth (Part 2)
  • Deadly Blessing (Directed by Wes Craven)
  • Carver
  • Devil in the Flesh 2 (aka Teacher’s Pet 2)
  • Illuminating Angels & Demons
