Rapper 50 Cent, WWE’s Roman Reigns, and Jason Momoa to reportedly lead fever dream-like Street Fighter movie cast

Sometimes, silly fan casts are not necessary. Occasionally, they come to life in Hollywood.

At least, that’s what the reported cast for the upcoming Street Fighter movie feels like. Did you ever think you’d see 50 Cent, Roman Reigns, and Jason Momoa working together in anything, let alone in a video game adaptation? Me neither. But that’s what’s happening, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will be playing the boxer Balrog, while WWE’s Roman Reigns (real name Joe Anoa’i) will portray the demon Akuma, and Jason Momoa will be Blanka, lighting up the cast list of Legendary Entertainment’s adaptation.

Elsewhere, reports state that Andrew Koji will be playing Ryu, Noah Centineo is set to play Ken, Orville Peck will be Vega, and Callina Liang has been cast as Chun-Li. So, not only is the cast star-studded and varied from a Hollywood standpoint, but it’s got a good amount of variety from the games, too.

There are some other obvious choices for characters that could join the cast eventually, such as M. Bison, Guile, and Cammy, but for now, director Kitao Sakurai is filling out the call sheet as he gets set to helm the feature that’s scheduled to launch in 2026.

Look, it’s anyone’s guess as to how this film will come out. There are some big names in the cast to be sure, but their ability to bring the characters to life alongside a decent script is going to be a question mark until it releases.

Big screen adaptations of video games have been extremely hit or miss, with successes like Sonic the Hedgehog and The Super Mario Bros. Movie lighting up the big screen, while Fallout and Arcane have done well on the TV side of things. And these are just a handful of examples of the good ones, whereas the vast majority of adaptations through the years have largely fallen flat.

One such adaptation was the 1994 movie version of Street Fighter, which somehow had Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile, and had a similarly wild cast list that also included singer Kylie Minogue as Cammy and Addams Family star Raul Julia as M. Bison.
