EA lowers digital PS4 games to £54.99 on UK store

[Update: EA has lowered the price of digital PS4 games again, down to £54.99, the same price as the Xbox One, Eurogamer reports. So the parity is nice. That's still quite expensive, at about $100 USD, and more expe...

The folks over at GOG.com have been doing some pretty marvelous things recently, and they show no signs of stopping as they have, according to them, taken a bunch of PC games, thrown them into a bucket and somehow made t...

From PC to console: Octodad dev on making the transition

In recent years, large publishers have taken steps towards embracing titles made by independent developers, and in many cases it has paid off incredibly well. With the new next-gen systems on the horizon, a number of indie de...

GOG.com have 'blink and you'll miss 'em' Insomnia deals

Whilst the site doesn't have the largest catalog of games, I always appreciate the effort GOG.com puts into making its sales interesting. Right now, there's an Insomnia sale happening which is taking a novel approach to flash...

Now you can buy PSN games from Amazon

Amazon has a PlayStation Network store now, and it is exactly what you think it is. You can buy digital copies of games and downloadable content to play on your Sony gaming device. Right now you can get a $5 credit if you buy a select title from the new store, so it might be worth checking out. Some games I saw are discounted a little bit too, which is always nice.

You won't find Nintendo Land on the US eShop anymore

In a strange move that no one understands, everyone's favorite Mario factory has recently removed original Wii U pack-in Nintendo Land from the system's eShop. Exactly when, we're not sure. NeoGAF users found the title gone f...

Xbox One game gifting may be coming after all

Back when the Xbox One was announced and all of that terrible DRM news came out of it, there was one pretty neat feature -- digital game gifting. Essentially, the practice allowed you to buy a game digitally, play it, then "g...

Superhot and Mount Your Friends greenlit on Steam

It's far from the best group of Steam Greenlight titles to move forward -- and that's putting it nicely -- but the September 18th group has a few standouts. Superhot, the first-person shooter where time moves when you do; the...

Apogee's shmup Stargunner is free on GOG.com photo
Apogee's shmup Stargunner is free on GOG.com
by Jordan Devore

I had forgotten that Apogee Software made a sidescrolling shoot-'em-up -- one with '90s-rific pre-rendered 3D graphics, no less. That's more to do with my terrible memory and general cluelessness when it comes to the genre than a statement about the quality of Stargunner.

The game has been freeware for quite a few years, at this point, but there's something about adding these titles to your library on a familiar digital distribution service that makes them seem somehow better. GOG.com is hosting Stargunner, should you want to give it a try.

While the site has your attention, there's also a decent sale on Square Enix games. Look for 60 percent off Startopia, Thief, Soul Reaver, and freakin' Total Overdose, to name a few.
