The 'New 3DS' will have an internet filter in Japan, unless you pay $0.30

Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire get tin cases & pre-order toys in Europe

In the United States, if you buy both Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire at Toys R Us, you get a Charizard plush. In Europe, a GAME or Nintendo UK pre-order will net you a nifty tin case and a little toy when the game releases, November 28. I think Europe got the better deal, unless you must have both versions of the game and need a throw pillow or snuggle buddy.

The 'New Nintendo 3DS' is a new 3DS iteration from Nintendo
by Chris Carter

[Update: Nintendo has confirmed that DS games will still work, and to not expect an international release anytime in 2014.]

Nintendo has revealed yet another 3DS unit -- the "New Nintendo 3DS." It'll feature bigger screens, colored face buttons, a second stick (a tiny nub called the "C-stick," modeled after the GameCube), faster download speeds, a better browser, extra shoulder buttons, and amiibo functionality (NFC). The Nintendo Direct showed off the second stick with Monster Hunter, with the player manipulating the camera with the right nub.

Another bit of functionality Nintendo has shown is enhanced 3D. When viewing 3D effects on the side on a regular 3DS or XL, it'll become blurry. But on the "New 3DS" it'll be very clear regardless of the direction. Look at the gallery below for a visual representation of this concept.

It'll come in white, metallic blue, black, and metallic black, and will be available in both regular and "XL" sizes. It's coming on October 11th for 16,000 and 18,800 yen (for regular and XL respectively).

Right now it's just announced for Japan, but stay tuned.

Review: Mighty Gunvolt photo
Review: Mighty Gunvolt
by Chris Carter

Inti Creates is just full of surprises. First, we had the announcement of a brand new Mega Man-like project that absolutely exploded on Kickstarter. Then we got word that Azure Striker Gunvolt was in production, and was an attempt to recreate the feel of the Mega Man X and ZX titles.

Now, we have a full-on 8-bit loveletter to the NES area in the form of Mighty Gunvolt, which is a free add-on for Striker. Provided that Mighty No. 9 delivers, this is going to be one hell of a retro trifecta.
