Are more Street Fighter IV characters going to be unveiled? It certainly seems that way. Seth Killian announced the results of a poll on Capcom-Unity, their community site, which placed Cammy as the top gamer's pick for potential inclusion in the game. It appeared to be a surprise to them as well, as Cammy's ballots beat out all other characters on a 2:1 ratio. I didn't realize she was a very popular character at all and presumed someone like Akuma would be the most popular pick. Who knew? Seth noted that the development team is taking community input very seriously and promised to show the crowd's enthusiasm to the development team back in Japan for consideration.
If the selection of an additional character was up to the Destructoid Community, who would you choose as your must-have character for the home edition?
[Editor's note: Mr. Destructoid has invaded Final Fantasy IV! Mr. Destructoid is also very naked. Awesome job, Beanopolis! -- CTZ]
A nice new feature in Final Fantasy IV is the customization of a small summon creature named Whyt. I was having much trouble deciding how I should draw his face. So I decided to go with everybody's best friend, Mr. Destructoid.
He wasn't too difficult to create but he looks oh so lovable! Feel free to use your own style and comment on any improvements you can think I can add to my own. Hopefully as I get through the game, I'll be able to add a nice suit to his ensemble. Enjoy!

Destructoid and Tomopop, have invaded Comic-Con 2008. They're running around, screwing newlyweds, collecting a ton of swag and getting drunk off their asses. Oh, and they're covering all things videogames and toys too.
Niero checks out Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, we have another new contest containing some nice Comic-Con swag, Nick previews Midnight Club: Los Angeles, the animated Dead Space movie looks awesome, and plenty more happened on Thursday.
Finally, the reason why Darren Aronofsky's people weren't returning my calls regarding the Face Face movie -- he's directing a new Robocop film.
You read that right, folks. The director behind such films as Requiem for a Dream, Pi, and The Fountain will be bringing the "part man, part machine, all cop" back to the big screen some time in 2010. I guess he wanted to challenge himself.

Send your videogame-related news and tips to tips@destructoid.com ... because this whole Aronofsky directing a new Robocop thing has us frazzle. Oh, and did we mention that David Self (Road to Perdition) is writing this film? What planet do we live on?

I can understand the anger from the Bungie-guy though!...
Easily my favorite this week is Luke goes for the ride of his life YTMND. Well, up until the very end that is. Also, you may notice a few really old YTMNDs for those of you who've been following YTMND Thursday since it first started two years ago. It's been a pain to find good YTMNDs as of late so hopefully you don't mind. Then again, everyone on the Internet has A.D.D. so it doesn't matter if I use some repeats.
Thanks to Qalamari as always. What were your favorites this week?

We're utterly amazed that the game wasn't timed to match the Dark Knight's theatrical release, but we're guessing that the developers had to save something to go along with the movie's eventual DVD debut. What new Batman game, you ask? The one Gary Oldman let out of the bag while being interviewed by the unusually restrained Kristin Holt of G4, of course. She must be as starstruck as the rest of us, because she normally seems to have tapped the energy of a small sun during her bits on Cheat!
Nonetheless, if you were looking for some validation from Commissioner Gordon himself, then you came to the right place. After musing about his supposed "small role" in the game, Oldman talked about how developers were looking to make sure Batman's gliding sequences were as smooth as butter -- or as you techy types like to say, seamless.
While we can't comment on his role in the game, we can gush about how great the movie turned out. If EA (or whoever does this one) can manage to translate that masterpiece into something that works with a controller -- we'll have a slew of other words to describe the experience. Hopefully, it will start with Holy Sh*t, this is the one Batman game to rule them all!
The perpetually postponed release date of Home has been pinned down for Autumn of this year, but if polygonal Sony boss Kaz Hirai's words are meant to be taken as a warning, we might see yet another delay. The living Quake model has stated that Home's launch date "doesn't matter" and that he does not want the product to be rushed onto the market. Something tells me he's trying to prepare us for a frustrating future announcement.
"I'd much rather make sure we take the time to have a great service rather than rush something into the market - only for consumers to say: 'This is not enough for me.'
I want to avoid that. If we have the right service, it doesn't matter when we launch - so long as it's in a reasonable timeframe."
A reasonable timeframe, eh? How long have people been waiting for Home, exactly?
Sarcasm aside, and acknowledging the fact that Hirai is probably making excuses, I can't argue with the philosophy he puts forth. We as gamers in the Internet age demand everything yesterday, and live by the nanosecond. If something isn't in our hands, the wait is too long. Crafting a quality product takes time, however, and if Sony is truly pushing Home back to make it all it can be, then more power to them.
