Dtoid (the show) week 4 recap: I think my butt get big

Last week was insane, especially yesterday. The Destructoid (the show) was pretty nuts as well. We started giving away a bunch of rare Super Meat Boy, Super Mario, and Bit.Trip stuff, we reviewed Kinect and its launch games, ...

PlayStation-branded junk is in our future

Sony has now launched an initiative they're calling the "PlayStation Logo Licensing Program." This means that you'll start seeing the PlayStation logo slapped across all manner of what the company is referring to as "lifestyl...

Atlus makes mad bank, Sony kicks themselves harder

Hey, remember last night, when Jim told us about Sony regretting not publishing Demon's Souls themselves? Well, they can cry some more, because Atlus has been reporting rather grand gains of late. Over the first half of this ...

All-white Sengoku Basara/Devil Kings Revoltechs available

Perhaps in anticipation of the (upcoming?) release of Samurai Basara: Samurai Heroes, for the PlayStation 3 and, oddly enough the Wii, or Battle Heroes, a PSP game in the same vein, Kaiyodo is producing a Power Shop set of Re...

Look!: the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker PSP bundle

Yesterday, as the new issue of Weekly Famitsu hit Japanese news stands, details about two upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker PSP bundles began to leak out. Sony is selling a Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Premium Package...

Rock Band DLC: Phoenix and a live Tom Petty track pack

Another week, another bunch of Rock Band DLC. If had any ideals, I'd refuse to post about DLC since it's obviously just a ploy by the Man to squeeze you for your precious banana dollars; but, apparently, this game is popular...

So baller: Professor Layton Revoltech coming in March

Ok, let's be perfectly honest here: this Professor Layton Revoltech figure is on-fire hot. If I had a saltier lexicon, one surely unbefitting of a gentleman like Professor Layton, I'd say it was sh*thot. At the very least, I ...

Desert Bus marathon raises over $132,000 for charity

Isn't it crazy how a minigame from an unreleased Sega CD title has been so crucial in helping to raise money for charity? Don't get me wrong -- most of the credit goes to LoadingReadyRun, the group who uses said minigame for ...

Devil Summoner 2 packaging is drop dead sexy photo
Devil Summoner 2 packaging is drop dead sexy
by Colette Bennett

Reasons why I am in lust with the special edition of Atlus' upcoming RPG Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abbadon:

1. The game is set in Japan in the 1920s

2. The game is going to be freaking incredible

3. It comes with a Jack Frost plsuhie COSPLAYING as Raidou

4. Shoji Meguro (of Persona fame) did the music for the game

5. It's only THIRTY SEVEN BUCKS

6. DEAR GOD LOOK HOW SEXY THAT PACKAGE IS

Yeah. So that's why I don't even want to OPEN this thing. It's tempting to buy two and just leave one sitting up on my game shelf like a big fat trophy. I was expecting to get the game and the plushie in a little plastic bag, so this is far above and beyond my expectations. The again, that's where Atlus seems to shoot for these days, so maybe I should take it as a matter of course and start to expect my wildest dreams fulfilled by them in the future. Hey Atlus, make a Persona fighting game!

Are pinball machines about to become extinct?

Let us all lower our heads. This is a very dark day. Rumor has it Stern Pinball, Inc., one of the last pinball makers left in the world (if not the only one), has laid off a handful of workers and several designers -- a move ...

Destructoid Discusses! The digital bargain bin and virtual shelf space

If you pay attention, you'll notice that, for better or worse, the games industry is changing right in front of our eyes. While companies are getting bought up, shut down, and merged, publishers are desperately trying to find...

I would burn down a convent for this scrap metal Big Daddy sculpture

I love BioShock. You love BioShock. Whether it's on the PS3 or the Xbox 360, we all love BioShock. The artists over at Metal Park seem to be aware of this, and they're making it really hard to not spend the hundreds of dollar...

Paging Tazar and Snaileb to Cancun - Congrats to our Dtoid fanboy winners!
by Papa Niero

The backstory: Destructoid turned two (or twenty), so we're putting babies in people in Cancun next week to celebrate and this year we wanted to fly Destructoid's biggest fanboy and a friend to join us. So who should that person be this year? The people have spoken!  Following a near-riot ballot anticipation in the cblogs and a late night internal voting session the collective has chosen none other than TAZAR THE YOOT, an honorable site regular who has a license plate cooler than the guy who actually runs the site! Tazar has selected friend a fellow Dtoid community member Snaileb to join the festivities as his bitch, so that wraps up this year's anniversary contest. We'd like to thank everyone that participated and a special thanks to our runner up Cutie Honey who made an amazing music video. Expect tacky souvenirs from us!

Two other anniversary contests remain: A chance to win Grand Theft Auto 4 and Playstation 3 and a killer $5000 custom Turning Point gaming PC.  These contests are ending soon, so get your entry in pronto. Capisch?

Last but not least, I have special announcement to make.  Later this month this little start-up video game company will be moving out of my living room and into a proper office near downtown Miami. I know - serious business! We can assure you that it will be a dive at first, but after the paint dries and our 90x115 foot Deep Throat poster arrives it should then feel like home. Keep an eye on my Cblog as I hope to document the entire process of going from a humble garage based web publisher to a slave-driving business-jerkface who only hires slutty interns from the nearby hippie art college*! We have a ton of new site features planned so expect your cheese to be moved and fondled inappropriately.

Seriously though, these are very exciting times and we're happy to give back as much as we can for putting us on the map. Thanks everyone for the support and sharing in the unlikely Destructoid story.

*Subject to Colette approval. Sluts are not necessarily all female or homosapien. Kids, use protection.

Destructoid Contest: Win a one-of-a-kind $4,999 Turning Point pc! photo
Destructoid Contest: Win a one-of-a-kind $4,999 Turning Point pc!
by Papa Niero

Destructoid 2 year anniversary madness continues! As we countdown 730 days of blogging in the good name of the robot we're running a couple of contests you won't want to miss: You have the chance to win a Playstation 3 with Grand Theft Auto 4, a trip to Cancun, and now a one-of-a-kind Turning Point: Fall of Liberty edition Falcon Northwest system!  Gorgeous custom chassis artwork aside, there's some serious power under the hood:

  • 3 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
  • Two Nvidia GeForce 8800GT cards in SLI
  • Two 500 Gig hard drives in RAID 0
  • Viewsonic 22" Widescreen monitor
  • Mad bragging rights
  • A new place on your desk that you will forbid your roommate to place his filthy Chinese takeout leftovers. No seriously, if you find another sticky chicken wing near your desk you can officially stab him repeatedly in the eye!

How to win it

Show us your rig. That's all there is to it. The winner will be selected at random - simply fire up your blog with an entry called "Not my Turning Point gaming rig" and post a photo and a note about the computer you call home. We'll be featuring some of the notable rigs on our weekend community updates too, so if you'd like to be featured put some work into that post. The contest ends on April 7th, so you've got a month to make it happen.

Full list of tech specs and larger photos follow soon!
