Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, a Sony spokesperson has dismissed rumours that a new version of the PSP is currently in development.
The rumours emerged following the appearance an article in the US version of PSM magazine, excerpts of which were widely reported (and in some cases misreported) online.
The article predicts the arrival of a new version of the PSP in March, claiming that developers have already "been briefed on Sony's plans". It goes on to say that according to "sources familiar with its development", the new PSP will be "thinner and lighter" than the original model.
But a Sony spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz: "We currently have no plans to release another version of the PSP."

May be true may not be, who freakin knows. I remember a rep from Nintendo was interviewed about a rumored DS redesign in which he denied. The very next day, Nintendo announced the DS Lite.
Well if it's not enough that Sony is (re)releasing the PSP with the
Enterainment pack on us, but they also have plans to rerelease a redesign of the PSP. Here are some early facts:
Reached a deal with Samsung to purchase 8GB flash memory chips which will be built in according to industry reports
Miniature hard disk drives are out
Will be streamlined and thinner and lighter
Sony is still expected to include a still/video camera of undetermined resolution as a built-in feature of the new PSP
Sony is planning on rererererererereleaseing this March 07 in Japan.
Evil Avatar says this info has come from the latest issue of PSM, but I have my doubts. This sounds way to fake to me. I'm adding the rumormill tag just in case. We will of course keep you updated on this as it develops. What do you think?
If this info is real, do you think it's enough for Sony to make a come back? Or is it that Sony can do a ton of redesigns but it won't matter at all until they can get good games?
