Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Marioboys.jpg Tonight, I've come under a Wii bit of heat for my recent Metro column on the state of Nintendo in the console space. When faced with an opinion that is counter to their ideas of a Utopian world where Mario is King and Zelda is an angel amongst men, the blind supports of Nintendo have unleashed a hate barrage we've all come to expect from such a fan base. I thought I would give you all a taste of some of the hate mail I've received as part of this happy world of video games (I will leave all spellings and such in their original form):
i can't believe you anymore, robert. i used to love reading your joystiq articles... i'm one of the few that wasn't at all upset over the "big story" fiasco... but damn, man. how could you write an article like this? seriously. it comes off as uninformed, presumptuous, and pretentious. i'm just in shock. you're a real jerk.
... in the future, if you're going to write any sort of article, it is simply good journalistic practice to actually know what the hell it is you're talking about, lest you start writing about how the Muslims will all be defeated because Christianity is just plain better. I wouldn't employ your method of writing or logic in even a restaurant review column, so consider that you even have a job a stroke of pure luck.
Your article is silly. This email is pointless. Potatoes are bens.
You my good sr. are a Homo-Sexual. Nintendo's new system is to target the masses. And they would be upset if in the next two years there Wii's are all in the closet. You my friend are not a gamer, or are a Sony Fanboy...that does not keep up on all the gaming news.
Dude, get a clue.
Next time you fire up your time machine, let me know who won the 2008 election. Nintendo is never leaving the hardware business. Your article reminds me of the ones in 2004 before the PSP and DS launched, saying how Nintendo would get bumped from the top spot in handhelds....oops!
Surprisingly, I didn't even really get that much hate mail and the comments on Go Nintendo were about 100x worse than anything I got in my Inbox. Gotta love those Nintendo fans for their undying devotion.
