Today's gaming setup belongs to the one and only atheistium. She has quite the collection of games, toys, and stickers all over her room. It's kind of funny seeing all of her consoles so cramped up on her desk. You need more room, atheistium! Check out her blog for more pictures of her setup.

Hit the jump for the Community Highlights, as always. Some of the more interesting community stuff from this past week includes evil chad still being alive, the next Educate Yourself is going down, Dtoid Cincinnati is going to have an epic party, plans for an Australian NARP are underway and much more all after the jump.

I can see why Nex enjoyed posting the Games of the Week feature when he was in charge of it, because it's essentially a tiny little soapbox upon which you can peddle any kind of crap you like. Since nobody even spends time reading it, eager as they are to post a reply telling us what they've been playing this week, I can essentially get away with cheap and tactless plugs for other Web sites.

Which is what I am going to do.

Morphine Nation is the Web site I used to own before I was hired by Destructoid. Essentially a social satire site, I'd write general commentary and comedy articles, and post comics about what an arsehole Skeletor is. Anyway, the site relaunched in blog format this year after I retired (since Destructoid took up all my time). They post some pretty nutty stuff, and I occasionally contribute -- check out my "Uncle Cheeky" series if you never want to sleep again.

A friend of mine called Brad Rychard has launched a Web site for his comic series Cane/Hat Man, which is all about a man with a hat and a cane who likes to stab people. The premise is rather silly, as are the comics, but there is some inspired stuff in there. Not for everyone, but worth a look.

Hit the jump to see what we've playing (clue: there's a lot of theft in our games, some of it grand and involving automobiles).

If you love it, change it: The Rampage series

[Editor's note: ZombiePlatypus gets May's Monthly Musing finally kicked off. For this "If you love it, change it", ZombiePlatypus takes a look at the Rampage series. -- CTZ]

I’ve always liked the Rampage series. Be it in the arcades or staying up all night with the NES version back in the day, Rampage has been an addiction of mine. I have a good time wrecking identical buildings over and over again for hours, so sue me. I bought the first two Midway Arcade Treasure collections pretty much just for the Rampage games. I still get a kick out of the mindless fun out of the older games.

The thing is the series hasn’t evolved at all. No matter how many sequels come out, it’s still pretty much the same game that it was a couple decades ago, just with more monsters. That being the case, I haven’t felt the need to buy any of the recent Rampages, not when the classics are readily available. I have some ideas that could fix that though. Hit the jump for my thoughts.

Droll: At some point, though, isn't the best Rampage sequel ever made Radical Entertainment's 2005 Hulk: Ultimate Destruction? That was a game where you could destory buildings, fight humans, and cause ...   more

I think the real story here is that we haven't posted the tantalizing new screenshots of Rare's Banjo-Threeie sooner. Still, better late than never, and if you're one of the ... one ... gamers that haven't seen these two lovely images yet, this post is for you!

My sources in Rare are very excited about Banjo-Threeie and are pretty much saying that this is going to put the British studio back on the map. While Rare's pedigree has fallen in the eyes of gamers over the years, it is believed that this one is going to remove all doubts that the developer is a  duke of platforming fun. I've also heard it sh*ts all over Mario 64.

As with Mirror's Edge, it's truly exhilarating to see bright colors and some original art direction in a game. Threeie looks like it's bursting at the seams with character, and that's something we could stand to enjoy a lot more of in this current generation.

Of course, looks aren't everything, and we'll have to see if the gameplay can match the visuals. I've heard wonderful things though, and have a good feeling about it. Time, like an Austrian daughter, will tell in the end.

Sorry kids, but we won't be recording this week. Dyson is out of town visiting his little sister, who's just graduated from college, (congratulations to the young Ms. Grigsby!) and the rest of us are taking the day off to hug our moms and bake cookies for orphans. Oh, except Anthony. He's taking the day off to bake cookies for himself and then eat them in front of orphans while they watch, doe-eyed and wrought with hunger.

Anyway, we're as sad about the matter as you are, and we can't wait to get back into the groove next week. In the meantime, please feel free to carry on the RFGO! tradition of posting puppies and asian girls in the comments, ask us a question, or just come say hello. We'll be keeping an eye on this post throughout the day because we miss you too. Also, if you haven't already, go play Dino Run. We'll tell you on next week's show how you can unlock something super-awesome in the game!

Until then, hit the comments anyway. We can still have a little fun.

Leave it to the Japanese to come up with a device that helps men stretch out their crotches. The "Crotch Splitting Device" requires a person to sit down, put their legs in on the slots and then hand turn a crank until they've stretched their legs out as far as they can.

On Destructoid, we get an exclusive interview with Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg. On Japanator, secret nude photography is greater than real porn. On Tomopop, look at Ariake's boobs. On PopRox, speculations of the Iron Man sequel are made. On MiamiNights, they're looking for new bloggers. And on Ectomo, check out the price of addiction. The best videogame moms EVER!

It’s Mother’s Day! Stop reading this for a second and go call your mom to tell her how much you love her. I don’t care if your mother “accidentally” ran you over with an orange truck or dropped you on your head at the local bar. She is your mother and deserves all the love and respect in the world.

Well, most mothers do, anyway.

In videogames, the mothers of main characters generally fall into three distinct categories: they are either completely insignificant, evil, or not talked about whatsoever. Some videogame moms, though, stand out as being truly interesting characters. Not only do they play a significant role in the game, they also personify what the perfect real-world mother should be: caring, compassionate, loving, and protective souls who only want the best for their family and loved ones.

Hurry up and finish signing that last-minute card and hit the jump for a list of the ten best videogame moms ... ever.

I am not among the thousands who were prepared to drop their pants and jizz up a storm over a mere minute and fifty-five seconds of concept, but needless to say, Mirror's Edge is theoretically a visually stunning affair backed up by some terrific ideas. It has the potential to be a killer title, so I expect this really pretty artwork to tent a few trousers upon viewing.

The art style is a breath of fresh air after all the depressing greys and browns that this generation has become famous for. While there's nothing wrong with gritty, dirty realism, the bright colors and clean, sleek look of Mirror's Edge's environs is a joy to behold. If the game can play as good as it looks, we're onto a winner -- but that would require it to play damn well.

Time, quite unlike that girl you buried in the backyard, will tell.

Weekend WTF: The realistic Sonic the Hedgehog

I am so happy this realistic take on videogame characters is really taking off. You've seen Mario, were intrigued by Bowser and got traumatized by Pikachu with nipples. Well now it's time for another well known videogame mascot to get the realistic treatment.

This realistic take on Sonic the Hedgehog was done by Marcus Blättermann, the same artist who made the realistic Bowser. Check out Marcus's site as he goes into the details on how he made this revision of Sonic and the process he went through trying to get Sonic to look as real as possible while trying to stay true to the classic character. Marcus even went ahead and made a realistic take of Sonic in classic 8-bit form.

I have to wonder now, would Sonic have become as iconic as he has if he looked more like this revision as apposed to the blue fur ball we all know and love now? Either way, I still think the realistic Pikachu one is the best so far. What do you think?
