That lil Bulbasaur! Pokémon Center has the adorable Red Nendoroid

We last spoke about Good Smile Company's Red Nendoroid months ago, which is just too dang long. The figure has since released in Japan, and the US Pokémon Center now has it in stock. For $49.99, the set comes with the ...

Toys"R"Us canceling Lucario amiibo orders
by Chris Carter

[Update: Toys"R"Us put pre-orders back up momentarily this morning, and I expect them to either be faulty or drop very soon. Try to re-pre-order if you want at your own risk!]

[Update 2: Now the retailer has taken off the listing entirely -- there's not even a "sold out" page. What a circus.]

The day the Lucario amiibo went on sale, I pre-ordered it. As in, weeks ago. Now Toys"R"Us is canceling orders, including mine. For reference, Lucario is exclusive to Toys"R"Us and you can't get it anywhere else. Huh?

I'm not alone it seems, as our own Brittany Vincent and Bill Platt have had their orders canceled too, as well as a number of readers out there who reached out last night. We are following up with both Nintendo and Toys"R"Us to see what the deal is. It's entirely possible that the latter wants people running into the store at the release date and buying add-on items. That's retail for you.

Between this, the holy trinity, and Rosalina pre-orders selling out in 30 minutes in the dead of night, this has become a total shitshow by Nintendo and the retailers involved, which chose to do exclusive amiibo in the first place. Why is it that Activision and Disney were able to sell millions of dollars worth of Skylanders and Disney Infinity toys near launch without a hitch?

This early build of a 13-inch Mega Man statue looks pretty great

Next March, X-Plus Toys will be producing a new Mega Man statue, and the project is coming along pretty great. It'll be 13-inches tall, and is made of soft plastic. It'll run you 8,424 Yen, which is roughly $71.00. There is n...

Act Fast! Lucario amiibo available for pre-order again on Toys "R" Us website

Jeez, these amiibo things sure are popular, huh? Grab your wallets and get to shopping, because the Lucario amiibo (Toys "R" Us exclusive) is back in stock at the Toys "R" Us website. Just yesterday, these figures were completely sold out on there, so you should probably act pretty fast if you want to snag one for yourself.

This Lucina figure is looking pretty damn great

Japan is getting an amazing Figma figure next year -- Lucina from Fire Emblem: Awakening. It's up for pre-order now from retailers like AmiAmi, and it'll drop in April 2015. I think I'm going to have the mask on permanently -- it looks too cool. Of course, this figure makes me lament the fact that Lucina doesn't have a mask-variant costume in Smash Bros.

Toys "R" Us' exclusive Lucario amiibo is sold out online

I really like covering toys on Destructoid. I get to talk to a ton of like-minded collectors, share shopping strategies, and the community in general always comes together to help one another. It's a feel-good experience even...

Best Buy opens up pre-orders for Meta Knight amiibo

During my day one amiibo hunting trip, I noticed that Best Buy wasn't particularly on the ball. Multiple stores in my area didn't even stock Wii Fit Trainer or Villager, and Marth came up as "Martha" on one of the Best Buy in...

Here are all the amiibo waves and figures we know about

The amiibo figures out today, and in some locations, they're selling out. While Villager and Wii Fit Trainer seem to be two of the rarer figures, Marth is decidedly the one to look for, as he's currently going for $30 on Ama...

Just how rare are some of Nintendo's amiibo toys at launch? photo
Just how rare are some of Nintendo's amiibo toys at launch?
by Chris Carter

While Nintendo provided me with the Link, Mario, and Kirby amiibo toys for testing with Super Smash Bros., acquiring the rest of the lot was completely up to me. So I decided to take a trip early this morning, survey any potential crowds, and see what I could get. I ended up nabbing the rest of the ones I needed, with some trouble.

I started off at GameStop (though there was a midnight release party there), and headed to Toys"R"Us, followed by two Targets and two Best Buy stores. Mario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, and Pikachu were all readily available at all locations. Every store I went to (seven in total) had at least 30 units in stock for those characters. Peach and Kirby seemed more rare, but there were at least 15 units each. You should be good to go on all of the above for a few days if you can't get to the store this morning.

Here's how Nintendo's amiibo figures work, and how they interact with Smash Bros. photo
Here's how Nintendo's amiibo figures work, and how they interact with Smash Bros.
by Chris Carter

Nintendo's long awaited foray into the toy market is here: the amiibo are ready for purchase, and the flagship game, Super Smash Bros., is right on the horizon.

While the toys look great in person and the setup is painless, so far the actual interactivity is underwhelming. Collector itch aside, I'd definitely recommend waiting until more compatible games are out before committing to any purchases.

Hyrule Warriors' amiibo support is boring

Nintendo has explained which amiibo toys do what in Hyrule Warriors and, frankly, the game's support for the near-field communication figurines is rather dull. With Link (or Toon Link), players can get the Spinner weapon from...

Nintendo has kids explain amiibo figures in Super Smash Bros.
