Now that we're into December, it seems okay that games are rolling out Christmas updates; any earlier and you'd have this cranky old man complaining on the internet and no one wants that. Hawken's latest update combines a wh...

Adhesive Games has given Destructoid the first exclusive look at the latest map coming to Hawken. Called Wreckage, the new map is based around a crash-landed derelict cargo ship.
Wreckage ties into the backstory of the series, and it ultimately shows off a microcosm of the battles being fought within the Hawken universe. The cargo ship on the map is the center of attention with the factions of Hawken, as it contains enough parts to make hundreds of mechs, or alternatively repair thousands of them.
The above picture was illustrated by Adhesive CEO Khang Le. Below you can find some in-game shots showing off the level and the carnage you can expect.
I was really happy with the changes that were made in the major Ascension update for Hawken; I was already a fan of the free-to-play, mech shooter but the improved tutorial and unlocks encouraged me to play more of the game....
Hawken has been in open beta for the last several months, but all in all things have been pretty quiet from the giant mech combat simulator. Well that's about to change as developer Adhesive Games unleashes a massive update that's going to improve a bunch of features.
"We've been focusing a lot on feedback from the public," producer Jason Hughes told me during hands-on demo. "We haven't had an update in a while because we actually had to break a lot of stuff in order to move on to some of the changes we wanted to make. At some point we couldn't keep updating what was live because we had to throw a lot of stuff out and sort of start from scratch."
So the team been taking in all this feedback, tweaking and tuning all sorts of features, and the result of their effort will be upon us later this month. Here's what you can expect.
Hawken publisher Meteor has, in its office, a piece of art featuring a woman with a bountiful underboob and very little in the way of clothing, hung in place by CEO Mark Long. The half-naked woman, named "Ruby Underboob" by employees, left a bit of a sour taste in one female employee's mouth.
Rather than simply vent anonymously on a blog, however, the worker decided to do something proactive, and illustrate a point with a pointed illustration.
"I approached Sam Kirk, a wickedly funny co-worker who shared my sentiment. Sam, turns out, is a very talented artist who can be bribed-slash-inspired using a medley of feminist indignation, hysterical giggling, and two $90 bottles of añejo tequila."
If you have ever had a desire to drive a mech around town, now you can finally have that dread come true. Head on over to Khang's Mechs and check out their low prices on top of the line mechs. Dave says they're epic.
This is another April fool's gag, but it would be really sweet to own a mech.
Last week we showed you what the newest mech to join Hawken looks like. Well now our exclusive look continues as we have a full breakdown of everything the mech has to offer players in the free-to-play first-person shooter for PC.
The new mech is called Raider, and is a medium class suit with increased movement speed that can fire its weapons off while boosting for a short duration. Take a look below to see some of its weaponry, it's upgrade paths, and some super cute animated gifs of the taunts you can place in the map.

Many of us at Destructoid have been looking forward to Hawken for a very long time now. How could we not? The mech genre was seemingly dead in the water until Adhesive Games revealed the teaser video which showed us a mech game that's bringing triple-A quality to the free-to-play PC market.
We've been following Hawken's progress very closely, and at gamescom I sat down with Khang Le, Adhesive Games' CEO and creative director, to talk about what's new with the game, the fear of meeting expectations, whether or not giant mechs wielding melee weapons feel realistic, and how indie companies are able to take on risks.
Upcoming free-to-play mech game Hawken will have its world and fiction expanded via a web series produced by Warner Premier.
Though it's not clear whether this will be an animated or live-action series with CGI (like the prom...
