What was 3D Realms thinking with the Duke Nukem fiasco? photo
What was 3D Realms thinking with the Duke Nukem fiasco?
by Brett Makedonski

With this week’s news that Gearbox Software has filed a lawsuit against 3D Realms and Interceptor for unauthorized use of the Duke Nukem property, it raises the question – exactly what the hell are 3D Realms and Interceptor doing? The question is multifaceted, both in terms of legality and the current status of the Duke Nukem brand. Of course, there’s no clear answer, because everything they’re doing seems to be ill-advised.

Before we move on any further, it’s worth noting that the only information we have is what Gearbox outlined in its Complaint. Neither 3D Realms nor Interceptor has filed an Answer, meaning that we technically only have one side of the story. Everything is only alleged at this point, and nothing has been proven as fact. However, given the allegations raised by Gearbox, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where 3D Realms is justified in its actions.

Homeworld, Dragon Age, Mighty No. 9, and some sad news photo
Homeworld, Dragon Age, Mighty No. 9, and some sad news
by Max Scoville

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I hope you're all safe and sound following PAX 2013! I got to drunkenly shout moist pleasantries in the vicinity of a bunch of you, and that was absolutely lovely. For those of you who missed it, you have my deepest sympathies.

Today on the show, we discuss Dragon Age: Inquisition, and how it looks incredible, how Gearbox is turning Hardware: Shipbreakers into Homeworld: Shipbreakers, and has two brand new IPs in the works. The Xbox One supports up to eight controllers, the Xbox Live Marketplace has been renamed, and Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune has absolutely wrecked shop with the Kickstarter for his new game, Mighty No. 9. There's a new Grand Theft Auto V trailer... and then some other announcements.

The exciting news: Niero and company have announced Destructoid HUGE, a premium membership program for the site, which will give members ad-free site access, discounts on merch, automatic contest entry, exclusive content, and more, for a measly $2.99 a month, or $29.99 a year. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" and considering how much Destructoid rules for free, just imagine how cool it'll be when there's money rolling in. It's only a matter of time until there's a whole portal full of exlusive Jonathan Holmes sexy muscleman pin-ups.

The sad news: The Destructoid Show is coming to an end. Tara and I will continue to crank out stuff full-time over on Rev3Games, but we're parting ways with our beloved red-eyed robot overlord Mr. Destructoid.

Destructoid's founder, and the man who got me my start in this kickass industry wrote up his thoughts, which you can read after the break.

Review: Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep photo
Review: Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep
by Chris Carter

Dungeons and Dragons is a game of alliances, treachery, and triumph -- in short, the experiences and emotions you accrue as a result of various campaigns are very much real. The newest Borderlands 2 add-on tackles that concept, as Tina hosts her own very similar fictional game of "Bunkers and Badasse"s in Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, and you're the star.

This isn't your typical DLC, as all gameplay takes place within Tina's fictional fantasy realm, ranging from medieval towns plagued by a dark sky, to underground dwarf cities, to eerie swamps filled with Orcs.

Gearbox really went all out on this one.
