Sweep the leg
So, Dragon's Dogma Online isn't ideal for a number of reasons -- it's supported by microtransactions and isn't even planned for release in the West, for starters -- but it is more Dragon's Dogma, and damn if it doesn't at least look cool. Especially the creature designs.
After perusing the game's site, I saw this devilish beauty. Zulu, they call him.
Zoom in. His expression is priceless.
CD Projekt RED says to keep playing
Players have encountered a glitch in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that's preventing them from earning experience points from certain quests. CD Projekt RED says it will resolve the issue "as soon as possible across all platforms ...
Releasing this September for PC and PS4
A series of live-action videos and an alternate-reality game have led to this: 12 minutes of uncut footage from Frictional's next first-person horror title, SOMA. It's coming to PC and PS4 at long last on September 22, 2015....
Too good to be true?
This supposed image of the Prima strategy guide for Splatoon shows some curious weapons including, oh my god, NES Zappers. The names even reflect the light guns' release years!
Is this stuff real? One of the weapons, the Inkb...
$10 for iPad and Android tablets
With Desktop Dungeons now available for iPad and Android tablets, I can easily see it becoming an obsession all over again. This is $10, straight up; no in-app purchases, no bullshit. The Enhanced Edition's daily challenges a...
Step one: Play Space Marine
There's a lot to love in this Humble Weekly Bundle of Relic games, but I have to give a special shout out to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. Years later, I'm still amazed it turned out as well as it did. Satisfying shooting, ...
And there's co-op!
Assault Android Cactus? Didn't that come out ages ago? No, that was merely the initial Steam Early Access build. Some of us -- myself included, now that I've seen this latest trailer -- are waiting for the finished release t...
The last couple of times we talked about Rogue Legacy coming to Xbox One, a bunch of you let the good vibes flow, so here's the bookend to that coverage: it's available now for $14.99. Better yet, the title is only $11.99 (20...
Next, we need a cat cleanup simulator
When we aren't talking video games, we're talking cats. Yesterday, it was servals. (Haha, those little heads!) Today, I'm hoping to steer the conversation from face-shredding wild African cats to the cats of the sea (otters)....
Time to pack up and go home
"There's something wrong, isn't there?"
Yes, Harry. Something is deeply wrong.
I'm staying far away from the alternate-reality game for SOMA. Not because I'm not interested in what Frictional Games is cooking up for its unde...
A Hideo Kojima Game
Fair amount of PS4 love from PlayStation Plus next month including, hell yes, the turn-based strategy title Skulls of the Shogun. But folks who held out on Ground Zeroes are in for the best treat of all. It'll be nice to have...
There's a pdf and everything
DICE rolled out its spring update for Battlefield 4 today and it's substantial enough to warrant a pdf with highlights. The short of it is five new guns, the return of Battlefield 3's Gun Master mode, and a revamp of the dama...
PS3, PS4, and Vita deals through June 1
As a response to feedback from fans, Sony has started a new members-only deals program called PlayStation Plus Specials. Typically, games are discounted for everyone on PlayStation Network, but PS Plus subscribers save even m...
Last night I had the strangest dream
I don't know what to make of Child of Cooper, an upcoming PC game out of Shelter developer Might and Delight, and that's exciting. It's pitched as a "visual narrative that challenges aspects of normative video game storytel...
Ignore the signs
The new DiRT game is coming together piece by piece, and today's morsel has me reminiscing about a certain scenic climb in Colorado. Today's update for DiRT Rally is a big one, and centers on Pikes Peak (both its "full fat m...
You're out of a job, Trapper
As a hunter, my experience with Evolve often involved catching a glimpse of the beast, giving chase, and then losing its zigzagging trail ad infinitum until it came back all beefed up to wipe us out. If only there were some w...
Unwinding: The Video Game
In Katamari Damacy, you roll up stuff. Small stuff, to start. Then cars, ships, buildings, mountains and, eventually, entire worlds. In Donut County, you slide an insatiable hole around to help it eat anything it can fit inside its maw. The more the hole consumes, the bigger it becomes.
Where does it end up? How big can the hole grow? I'm not sure. But damn do I want to find out.
Everyone can die
Oh, hey, that's digital Peter Stormare! How eerily accurate.
He's going to be in Until Dawn, the upcoming choice-driven survival horror game for PlayStation 4 in which pretty young people are stranded at a remote lodge with ...
It's the Witcher's time to shine
I last spoke about Cyberpunk 2077 over a year ago and noted that the game felt so far off, I couldn't even visualize it despite the cool, seedy, world-building promotional images and trailer. I'd say the project was announced...
So this is why it's taken so long
Ahead of its full reveal next month, Bethesda let out a couple seconds of footage for the new Doom. It looks cool to the extent that a snippet like this can look cool. Also, crucially, the footage is evocative of the series. ...
So far, I've missed every single opportunity to try Splatoon. Folks who made an effort to participate in the time-restricted Global Test Fire demo have had encouraging things to say about the game, which has me simu...
A television set with a built-in Nintendo Entertainment System sounds like the sort of extravagant purchase I'd make if, as a youngster, I was nearly run over by a bad man and he handed me a blank check that I could then pro...
Sega classics reimagined
Nothing like a jolt of awesome art to wake you up on a sleepy Friday.
Art dealer Cook & Becker has teamed up with Sega for a series of poster-sized prints based on some of our old favorites from Jet Set Radio to Phantasy ...
Nintendo will hold its E3 2015 Digital Event at 9:00am Pacific on Tuesday, June 16. Square Enix had the exact same date and time in mind for its E3 2015 press conference. Uh, guys? Can we not?
Thankfully, Square Enix budged. ...
Cute little microcosm
After watching this debut trailer for Evoland 2: A Slight Case of Spacetime Continuum Disorder, I regret missing the first game. The basic concept of an adventure that evolves from 2D to 3D and spans multiple genres is the s...
Walk the dinosaur
Jurassic World opens on Friday, June 12. I'm skeptical, but I'll probably wind up seeing it anyway for the trained raptors. TT Games' LEGO Jurassic World, which spans the four films, releases the same day for all major conso...
Who's ready for E3 2015? I'm sure not!
As ever, Microsoft will hold its media briefing at 9:30am Pacific on Monday, June 15. We'll cover all of the news and weird moments to come out of the event but you can watch along with ...
I'd like Elite Beat Agents, please
In 2006, many of us were desperate for another 2D Mario game, and Nintendo finally came through with New Super Mario Bros. for the original DS. From what I remember, it was a good game. Perhaps not great, but certainly suffic...
Going into Action Henk, a time-trial platforming game starring action figures, I expected to grow frustrated. I figured that once the training wheels came off, the challenge would rise to a point where perfection, or somethin...
