Zelda: Skyward Sword came out 10 years ago: how does it stack up?

Including the Skyward Sword remaster?

Zelda: Skyward Sword is turning 10 this week. Look, the official Nintendo account tweeted it out just to prove it! I know a lot of you out there are denying the cold hand of time, but it’s time to embrace it. With age comes wisdom.

So November 18 is actually the European date for the game’s release. It came out two days later in the US, and on November 23 in Japan. Gotta love that Metal Gear Solid 2 “west gets it before Japan” treatment!

I remember where I was, and how my Wii room looked at that exact moment. I had ordered the Gold Wiimote version and plopped down on my couch to basically play it for days straight until I finished it. It was a polarizing trip that I really had to sit and think about for days afterward.

Now, a decade later, I’m coming off of the remaster with a heightened experience because of the way the controls were reworked. It was fascinating to talk to my colleagues and check out reader comments and see how their perception of the game changed, for better or worse, with the re-release.

In any case, I’m sure people have feelings about Skyward Sword they’d like to share. Any Zelda anniversary is a monumental moment, but this one in particular is bound to garner discussion more than a lot of other games in the franchise. You read my thoughts in the review, sound off!
