Alex Hutchinson, who works on the creative team for the Assassin’s Creed series, thinks your ideas are the worst! Although he is intrigued by the proposition of India, he isn’t all that impressed with your other ideas. According to Hutchinson, “the three most wanted [settings] are WWII, feudal Japan and Egypt. They’re kind of the three worst settings for an AC game.”
While our own Maurice Tan gave a pretty awesome rundown on why China would be a great choice, honestly I’m not opposed to Japan — especially if they’re able to draw from and top the Tenchu series. Additionally, you could combine Japan and WWII into one game, and make an engaging Eastern front title.
Finally, what if an Egypt-centric game was set during the time of Moses? I think with the right creative juices, any setting could be particularly intriguing. I’d even go a step further and say that Constantinople, in the method in which Ubisoft Montreal presented it, was “the worst”.
